The Adventure Continues April 2, 2009

Boy, was I sad when the Season II Get Fit Challenge was over. First of all, I would miss the people that I met over the season. Second, I would loose a level of accountability and support. Lastly, I no longer was able to write my “inspiring” blogs. Then I get the email asking me to continue with my blogs and I was excited because some aspects of all three of my regrets have been changed.
Currently, the exercise is going well while the diet has slipped a bit. I have gained about 10 pounds since the end of the challenge and it is all because of my diet. Fortunately, I have maintained my exercise or it probably would have been a worse weight gain. But, I go see my doctor in the middle of April and I am going to ask him to refer me to a nutritionist to get my back in shape with my diet.
Before I was accepted into the Challenge last year, I knew that I needed to make lifestyle changes but I was fearful of failure. I have tried so many times to loose weight and get in shape to deal with my diabetes and have been unsuccessful. In fact, I also did not apply last year to be a part of the Challenge because I thought it would be a waste of time in that I would drop out and embarrass myself. One of the things the Challenge showed me was that I can do anything I set my mind to do. It boils down to having the appropriate mindset to do it. Once I was accepted into the Challenge, I made up my mind I was going to accomplish my goals no matter what. Whenever I ever thought about eating something that was not in my meal plan or not exercising, my motto was “NO EXCUSES!!!” The reality is now that I can have that mindset to keep myself in shape to benefit my health.
Congratulations to those selected for Season III. As I said in this blogs title, it is an adventure. One that you will see the benefits of and have appreciation for in the end. Take it one day at a time and use all the support and help you are provided.
